Sharing My Weekend – Hair Cut and Happy Easter!

I hope you all had a great Easter! He is risen!

I have a lot of photos to share today, so I’ll keep the posting short and sweet.

Saturday – Peanut got his second hair cut – this time we actually cut it all the way around. If you remember from this post his first hair cut was really just to trim up his bangs. This time around we hacked it all off. (Not really, but pretty much.) He didn’t sit as still this time, but once we got Mickey up on Youtube he was good to go. After that we went to Walmart to grab a few things and headed home to put Peanut down for his nap. (One of the main reasons we got Peanut’s hair cut was because everyone kept thinking he was a girl. Well, when we went to Walmart right afterward, the first thing someone said was that “We had a beautiful baby girl!” I thought Hubs’ head was going to explode – LOL!!!!)

Sunday – We went to church and then headed over to my SIL’s new house to have dinner with Hubs’ family. It was a lot of fun!

Don't let this photo fool you. He was quite squirmy before Mickey.

Just for the record – Peanut and Hubs got Easter baskets too. I took pictures on Hubs’ phone but for some reason they came out really blurry. Peanut got a coloring book, crayons, reading book, Mickey figurine, new zip sweater, and a miniature bat and baseball set. (I say miniature, but the foam bat is probably as big as Peanut.) Hubs got pajama pants, socks, and candy. :]

Sharing My Weekend – Partying and Cleaning House

On Saturday, Peanut went to his first non-family related birthday party and he had a blast! The party was for my friend’s, M, little boy who turns one today.
(HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE DUDE!)

-

It was a superhero themed party, so all of the kids were in their various superhero shirts. It was so cute! Peanut went as Batman (he had a cape on too, but you can’t see it in this picture).

Hi. I'm cute.

Hi. I’m cute.

He had so much fun! Now that he’s walking, he was allll over the place.

-

Maybe he should have went as “The Flash”! :]

(Now you can see his cape.)

(Here’s the cape.)

The birthday boy got tons of cool toys!

My friend made this AWESOME cake. Look at this!

"I'm just going to put my foot in it."

“I’m just going to put my foot in it.”

"Okay, I'll eat it!"

“Okay, I’ll eat it!”

Peanut had SO MUCH FUN and was wiped out by the time we got home.

-

Later that afternoon we went over to my SIL’s house to get the armoire we bought from them (they’re moving and were trying to get rid of it). It’s really going to help us sort stuff out in our guest room and I am SO excited. Then, that evening we went over the Hubs’ parents house to hang out and have dinner with them.

On Sunday, Hubs and I did some major home purging. We got the armoire situatued in its place upstairs and then Hubs went to work getting/sorting all of his hunting stuff into it. That means that now I have closet space to organize other things! While he worked on that, I did the following:

– I FINALLY cleaned out the fridge (It was loooong overdue. I don’t even know when we had chili… so who knows how long that Tupperware was in there?) =\
– I  FINALLY got some pictures framed. (Note – I didn’t actually hang them… but they’re framed!)
– I FINALLY wrote down all of the stuff I’m taking to the Goodwill and boxed it up. (FIVE diaper boxes full!) AND I loaded them into the Swagon to get dropped off. No more boxes full of stuff cluttering the upstairs hallway!!!
– We got Peanut’s new car seat* installed – sniffle. He’s growing too fast.
– I did ALL of the laundry (and put it away. Go me!).
– I did ALL of the dishes – which was A LOT after emptying the fridge.

We all (including Peanut) got cleaned up early and were able to actually relax a little.

It was definitely another FULL weekend – fun stuff mixed in with stuff that NEEDED to be done mixed in with relaxation.
That’s success in my book! :]

Sharing My Weekend – Hockey and Hunting

Whew. What a long weekend!

Friday night after work, we (my mother in law, father in law, sister in law, Hubs, and myself) took Peanut to his first hockey game! He did SO great. We opted not to get any noise cancelling headphones, and even though I started worrying about his ears once we got there, I think he did totally fine without them. We sat on the upper deck (which is kind of perfect but it’s not SO high that you can’t see) so I think that helped a little. Maybe? Who knows? I was also a little worried that Peanut would get tired of sitting in our laps and want down to play, but he did SO well. He calmly sat in our lap and watched the game with us. I think he was in awe!

I caught this next picture of Peanut trying to get to Hub’s hot dog and about died laughing when I found it on my camera. (I was just snapping pictures and didn’t go through them all until I got home that night.) LOL!

HAHAH!

HAHAH!

Did you see that?!

Did you see that?!

Saturday morning we all decided to head to the Dixie Deer Classic. Hubs has been many times, but this was Peanut and I’s first time going! (The in-laws first time too!) It was SUPER cold, so we bundled Peanut up really well. :] (The event was indoors, but the parking lot was jammed so we had to park pretty far and walk in.)

This is my marshmallow baby.

This is my marshmallow baby.

We got there around noon and a good friend of Hubs got us in for free. It was REALLY cool! It was held in three different buildings (so it was pretty big) and there were a bunch of different vendors set up. They had “trophy” deer mounted and they had exhibits where you could go in and feel different furs. I touched a bear – no big deal. They also had an area with LIVE wolves, bob cats, coyotes, and owls. (Yes, owls. My life is complete.) I had NO idea that wolves got so darn big. Before we left, we all got “Walk About” hats. Hubs was SO excited that we all copied him. ;] (He has been wanting one of these hats since our honeymoon FOURS YEARS AGO! So I’m glad he finally got one.)

-

-

Clean the mirror much? =\ I’m going home and doing it today, promise.

Again, Peanut did so well. He didn’t get fussy from sitting in the stroller or anything like that. SUCH. A. GOOD. BABY.
After the Dixie Deer Classic we all went out to dinner at Rudino’s and then headed home.

On Sunday it was pretty yucky outside (cold, dark, rainy), so I ran out to the grocery store and then we all chilled at home for the rest of the day. Peanut finally got in a good nap – lol. He was too curious to nap on Saturday. :]

What did y’all do this weekend?

Peanut’s First Birthday Party

We celebrated Peanut’s first birthday last (last) weekend with a Disney Plane’s themed party at our church. I thought it turned out really great and it was so much fun!

That morning, my mom and I headed out to pick up the cake and then headed straight to the church (a little early) to start decorating.

My mom and Peanut.

-

It makes me so sad how big he looks in those pictures! ;(

-

-

We got his cake done at Walmart and I was seriously impressed! They did a GREAT job! It was about $30 for this half sheet (serves 40) and the Smash Cake was free!

-

He was more into opening his gifts this time around (compared to Christmas) and it was so fun! My mother-in-law got him a huge stuffed Mickey Mouse and it was so cute because as soon as I pulled it out of the bag and placed it in front of him, he went, “MIIICKEYY!” Luckily, someone got it on camera. :]

-

He loves all of his gifts and now our living room really looks like a toy store. Sigh – ha!

I was curious to see what Peanut would do with the Smash Cake. He’s so precise with his food – when we give him finger food he picks it up between his fingers very slowly and moves his hand to his mouth so precisely. On the other hand, we don’t give Peanut sweets so I was curious to see what he’d do once that sugary goodness hit his lips. Well, he slowly dipped his hand in the icing like, “Is this okay??”, licked his fingers, and jammed his hand back in the icing. It was so cute and everyone was cracking up!

-

He was so fixed on the cake that he didn’t mind the hat on his head – ha!

He was a total mess afterwards. It was so much fun to clean up – not. :]

-

-

When the party was over and we were done cleaning, Mom and I headed out to Target and Peanut conked out in his car seat – talk about a sugar crash! :]

I still can’t believe our little dude is one year old. It’s so fun to witness him growing up, but I do wish time would slow down.

Sharing my Weekend – Peanut’s First Hair Cut and the New Kitchen Color

Finally. Loooong overdue. Peanut got his first hair cut this past weekend!

He did so great (no surprise there)! Hubs said it’s been a long time since he sat in a salon chair… hahaha! (He’s bald so…)

sharingmyweekendpeanutsfirsthaircut

And just so you can have a comparison look – here it was before (at Christmas, always in his face)…

"What is it? I can't see."

“What is it? I can’t see.” (Piggy bank*)

…and now. No longer in his face. :]

"Ahh... much better!"

“Ahh… much better!”

We had the sides and back trimmed just enough to fade into the front. Basically so he wouldn’t have a mullet.

Look at these gorgeous locks!

-

After Peanut’s appointment we headed back home to drop Hubs off and Peanut and I headed out again. Hubs was going to paint the kitchen (!!!!!!!!!!!) so he wanted Peanut out of the house for a bit. We were out ALL DAYYY. I had to finish Christmas shopping for my mom, brother, and nephew so that’s what I set out to do on Saturday. (My mom will be here tomorrow and we’ll do a second round of gift exchange.) I went to Old Navy, Burke’s, TJ Maxx, Target, Lowe’s, and then headed out to do my grocery shopping so I wouldn’t have to worry about it on Sunday. (I knew I had a lot of things to do before my mom got here, so I wanted to be able to stay home all day and get ‘er done. ;]) After grocery shopping I stopped to get some dinner for Hubs and I and then headed home. Hubs took a break from painting (it was taking him so long because he painted the ceiling first, “cut in” the walls and then we painted the walls twice). I gave Peanut his bath and set him down for bed. Hubs ended up recruiting me to help him paint and we got done around midnight. By the time we went to bed it was around 3 AM!

Don’t mind the mess, I literally stopped in the midst of cleaning to snatch this photo. I looove the color!

-

Here’s what the kitchen looked liked before… (this picture is from the listing of the house).

-

The kitchen seems SO MUCH MORE bright(er?) and open now. Yay!!!

– Can we stop and talk about that border??! UGHHH. The previous homeowners had borders in just about every room of the house and they were a PAIN to get down. Why?!?!?!?! Just say no to borders!!!

Let’s look at the kitchen again because it’s fabulous.

-

*smiley face with hearts as eyes*

On Sunday I stayed home all day and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned (and I’m still not done). We got the Christmas decorations down and put away so that was really nice. Our poor little living room was mighty cramped! Since we cleared out the Christmas tree and the play pen was nicely tucked into a corner, we took out all of Peanut’s toys that he got for Christmas and set them up.

He loves the ball pit*!

*He definitely needs some more balls in there - pathetic! Ha!

*He definitely needs some more balls in there – pathetic! Ha!

He really enjoyed the sports center* too!

-

He was a little more interested in dancing when the music came on, but that’s okay. ;]

He also got a ball popper* that he really enjoyed. I didn’t get a picture of him playing with it though.

At the end of the night, out of all the toys, he decided to eat/play with a cell phone.

Sighhhh.

Sighhhh.

(The living room is one of the rooms in the house that is completely untouched. There’s so much to do in here. But we’ll talk about that later. :])
